Denim Skousers

Inspired by the cool girls of New York, the Model-Off-Duty, and the fashionista stuck in the corporate rat-race.

These skousers are clean, with no contrast stitching, and fully monotextile with a darkwash medium-weight denim.

A vintage, engraved, steel belt buckle set adds a bold touch of southern gothic edge.

Line to Compliment Design

To turn this single design into a full collection, I decided to focus on the monotextile and clean silhouette elements.
Each design has a “through-gap”, where an over layer opens up to reveal an under layer of the same fabric to draw the eye through the design.

Drawing on the Southern-Gothic Americana influences of the western belt buckle paired with a New York street-style appearance, I decided to move forward with a muted red, white, and blue color palette.

Red symbolizes Hardiness, Valor, and Courage.

Blue symbolizes Vigilance, Perseverance, and Justice.

White symbolizes Purity and Innocence.

Because of the current state of affairs in the United States, with women’s and LGBTQ+ rights being limited and stifled every day, I chose to mute the traditional white to a warm grey/silver to represent the reality we are living in, with the new shade representing intuition, feminine lunar energy, and the liminal space between light and dark. The shade I have moved forward with is on the lighter side, which speaks to the hope that goodness will prevail over hate.
